     EARN A FREE MEMBERSHIP! Any member of AGS who brings in five new members at the Senior level or above within a 12-month period will be given a free membership renewal at the Individual level for one year (free year begins with your next renewal date).  New members that you recruit must record your name in brackets after theirs on the membership application form.

Benefits of student, senior, individual and family/dual membership in AGS include the following;

  • The AGS Quarterly:  Bulletin of the Association for Gravestone Studies, containing feature articles and regular columns on conservation, epitaphs, and international gravestone studies. Usually there are also book reviews, queries and news from other members, and news of the AGS Board and its activities.

  • The next published issue of Markers, the Association's annual journal containing definitive illustrated articles on cemeteries and gravemarkers, as well as an extensive annual international bibliography of recent scholarship.

  • AGS members receive a special members only reduced price on all purchases from our store, including back issues of Markers.

  • The AGS Conference has a member price and non-member price, yielding a considerable savings to members.

  • The AGS Archives are housed in the Greenfield office.  Basically, this is a repository for all the books and papers on gravestone studies that we collect.  While we do not allow archival materials to be removed from the premises, it is possible to use the books if members make arrangements to visit the Archives during hours when the office is open.  Also, research inquiries can be directed to the AGS archives.

  • The AGS monthly e-newsletter, containing special announcements, sales, articles and event and conference updates.

  • PLEASE NOTE:  The Institutional category is a subscription membership and only includes one copy each of Markers and Quarterly.

  • Special listing in the Annual Report of the Association.
