First in the Grave - 2026

In celebration of the U.S. 250th Anniversary

AGS hosts a series of hour-long educational and entertaining special talks by those who manage, research, preserve, and interpret the burial sites, gravestones, and memorials of our first presidents.  During each event representatives from Mount Vernon, the United Parish Church of Quincy, Monticello, and Montpelier introduced us to their sites, the presidents' deaths, and subsequent memorialization.  As a special extra, Kurt Deion, a presidential grave explorer from Congressional Cemetery (Washington, DC), wrapped up our series.  After each presentation, the audience had the opportunity to chat live with the speakers.

April 9th - Thomas Jefferson & Monticello

April 16th - James Madison & Montpelier

April 23rd - Kurt Deion, Presidential Grave Hunter, Congressional Cemetery
