Members of AGS have a variety of interests--genealogy, history, folk art, religion, commemorative art, historic preservation, anthropology-and some members just like the ambiance of cemeteries and enjoy walking through them on a balmy afternoon.
AGS holds an annual conference the third week in June. This conference, held in a different location each year, features lectures, demonstrations, exhibits, conservation and documentation workshops, classroom sessions, slide presentations, and guided cemetery tours.
What can you expect when you come to the Indiana conference? Stimulating research papers, late night sessions with slides, music, refreshments and laughter, field trips to a variety of cemeteries large and small, workshops and classroom/participation sessions to sharpen your skills in caring for and promoting the value of cemeteries as community treasures, college dorm accommodations and cafeteria dining experiences, and a chance to see old friends and make new ones.
